VA GI Bill

Registrants eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill or the Post 9-11 GI Bill, please follow these instructions:

FIRST-TIME REGISTRANTS AT FHSU

Click here and follow published FHSU directions at the time of course registration.    IMPORTANT: you will need your course identifier(s) for the new semester when you go to the site (i.e. PSY 670, Educational Psychology).

If you are strictly changing degree programs or institutions, and have previously received a VA Education benefit then use this form: VA Form 22-1995.   In block 4A write/or type in one of the following:

  1. the title of the degree you are seeking, or
  2. the certificate you are seeking , or
  3. ‘Degree Major Undecided at this time, pending decision’.

This will take care of degree-seeking and non-degree seeking students alike!

If you are using the GI Bill for the first time, or are electing to transfer your benefits from Chapter 30 to Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill – not recommended for JROTC instructors still eligible for old MGIB…speak with your RTG mentor as to why!) complete and sign your VA Form 22-1990.

“To apply for your VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE), please click on this link (https://www.vets.gov/education/apply/#modal) and follow the directions.”

“To review recent (August 2017) changes to Chapter 33, Post 911 “Forever” GI Bill, click this link: https://www.benefits.va.gov/GIBILL/ForeverGIBill.asp .”

Use the online system to both apply and provide your supporting documentation to the VA. This will allow the VA to email you your Certificate of Eligiblity for Chapter 33, the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Additionally, this will process Chapters 30 and 34 applications faster too.

RETURNING FHSU GI BILL STUDENTS
